Towns and cities in Germany are characterised by an increasingly diverse population structure. Existing social-ecological inequalities and proper integration of migrants present challenges for municipalities and urban society. This focus topic deals with issues around the participation of disadvantaged groups in terms of housing or mobility in urban environments, along with opportunities for their greater involvement in the design of cooperative and co-productive planning and neighbourhood development processes. New forms of urban co-existence are also discussed.
